IF THEY DON’T HAVE THE SCRIPT THEY CAN’T MASTER THEIR ROLE TO GET TO THE VIVID VISION…
Imagine for a minute what would happen if a world class director assembled a group of some of the best actors and actresses in the industry to make a blockbuster movie that he had a vivid vision of making gross hundreds of millions of dollars… got it?
Now imagine that the director had no script to share with them and told them that he had it all in his head and it was their job to read his mind…and if they didn’t get it right they should get off his set.
You know what the outcome would be…frustration, anger, confusion and in the end likely a huge disaster.
OK…what’s my point here?
The above scenario is how most businesses operate daily. The owners, partners and even some managers have a pretty clear picture of what they want to happen, how they want it to happen and how they will measure success.
The problem is the cast (employees and team members) are kept in the dark. They come to the “set” (the office) every day and do their best to figure out what the script is and how the “movie” ends but for the most part are stuck in a guessing game…and we know how that movie ends.
I stumbled upon a guy, Cameron Herold (the founder of 1-800-GOT JUNK), who came up with a concept that he refers to as a “Vivid Vision”.
In short, it’s a document that you create for your business that describes in detail what your business looks like three years from now. The cool part is it’s written in the present tense as if you were looking backward and celebrating your success over the past three years.
The goal is to work with your team to create this Vivid Vision document so that everyone knows what they are working towards and has a clear picture of what it looks like.
We’re going through this process right now at MonarchDIRECT and I want to share our first draft (lots more work to do to get it right) with you. It’s not perfect and still needs a fair amount of work…but it’s a start.

It’s 8 am on December 31, 2020, and as I pull up to the 10,500 square foot MonarchDIRECT Headquarters on MARKETING CIRCLE I’m pinching myself at all that we have accomplished in just three fast and furious years…
The “face of our business” stretches nearly the full length of our facility and the signage and image we have created on the outside dazzles our clients and scares the heck out of our competitors.
The team member vehicles in our parking area clearly demonstrate that MonarchDIRECT is committed to the success of the individuals that choose to work and grow with us.
Walking into the main entrance it’s clear that this is a special and unique company due to the coffee bar and lounge for our clients, the sparkling clean environment and the walls that showcase our awesome client projects and visually create a mindset for our visitors of business growth, excitement and opportunity that can’t be duplicated by our industry competitors.
Our 20 plus team members are motivated and enthusiastic due to the example set on a consistent and continual basis by our six stakeholders and the ownership group.
Each of our divisions including Printing, Signage, Silkscreen, Embroidery, Design, Promotional Specialties, Vehicle Graphics and Marketing Services has clearly defined outrageous goals supported by systems, people and tools that ensure we meet and exceed our revenue, profit, production, quality and client satisfaction targets monthly, quarterly and annually resulting in incomes and lifestyles that are the envy of our peers and exceed local industry standards by as much as 50%…or more!
Our daring, outstanding and remarkable group of “Renegades” has demonstrated clear superiority in the areas of skill, attitude and productivity that delivers outcomes that shock and awe our clients as we continually help them move closer to or reach their goals.
The MonarchDIRECT Renegade 10X Learning Center has a waiting list to attend our monthly Renegade 10X Business Development workshops that have become a cornerstone of not only our success but their success as well.
As we take a potential or new client on a tour of our facility they are instantly impressed with our level of professionalism, genuine friendliness of the team as they meet them and are amazed by the tools, equipment, environment and technology that we have at our disposal to help them get the outcome they desire and deserve when they choose to work with us.
Although reaching $4,000,000 in revenue and an industry leading 15% profit margin seemed like a pipedream three years ago, we’re excited to watch the final invoicing for the year today at 3 pm so we can celebrate as a group that we have exceeded both of these financial targets.
